Bacterial Synthetic Biology

Are you joining the UNIL iGEM team 2024?

UNIL will take part at the international Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition 2024. iGEM is a worldwide synthetic biology competition. Synthetic biology engineers biological systems that have applications in almost every aspect of our lives, including production of (living) materials, disease detection and treatment, bioremediation and many more. Students participating in iGEM are on the front lines of this revolution.

The UNIL team will be composed of 4-15 Bachelor (2nd and 3rd year) and Master MLS students in biology (and potentially other disciplines). No prior knowledge of synthetic biology is required. You need to be highly motivated, take part at the weekly coaching sessions and you are expected to work on the iGEM project during the summer break. Biology students can get up to 7 ECTS credits (other students please contact me). However, please note that the number of ECTS credits and the actual workload are disconnected.

Information session: November 28, 17.15 in POL210.

You can also find more information in this presentation.

Students will be selected based on their application file. Fill out the application form (maximum 2 pages in total) and send it (saved as pdf) to yolanda.schaerli at unil.ch. Deadline 14th of January 2024.
